Lovely little outfit this first look is. It’s very casual and comfortable but with still a little touch of sophistication. I’ve been obsessed with button up long sleeves and pearls lately. I’ve always loved wearing them, but now constantly wear them with everything!

And thankfully those curls lasted throughout the entire day. If you have pin-straight hair like mine use ROLLERS. No damage to the hair and leaves your hair looking healthy.

For the second look, I took it back to the 50’s and decided to give a little modern flare. Shh…the blue top is actually a mini-dress. I added black aldo wedges, and used bold colors to really make the outfit pop.

For the last look, I wanted to be really casual, but added a bit of sass to it. When first buying the long sweater vest, I was a little hesitant in what I could possibly match it with. Turns out, it goes along with almost anything, wedges and shorts for a fun summer look, jeans and flats for a beach day, you can even go for a hippie bohemian chic look with the right accessories. I’m delightfully satisfied.

Ahh it’s a floating hand! Haha my little sister’s #onedirectioninfection is starting to get to me. She couldn’t wait to buy her #1D sweater, it’s the #onething she wanted most! #iloveboybands (Taken with Instagram)

Sorry sorry so sorry. I haven’t been posting any blogs lately and I feel terrible! I’m having horrible withdrawals actually, but I’ve been so busy with managing my section at L7 Women’s Magazine. I decided to post the editorials I’ve done in the past few weeks, please check them out! (I totally understand if you don’t because of your anger for my absence in blog posting.) Haha but seriously, I would love for you to check out the awesome online magazine.

A week long of fun family events, fabulous food, and fantastic fun.  Sorry, I love using alliteration when available.

Anyway, my sincere apologies for not having written in so long! My family and I decided to have a weekend getaway in which we spent some quality time together. We ate tons of food; it was so good, but man oh man the food comas do make you quite dizzy. I had a strange 24/7 craving for frozen yogurt, I thought boba was my new addiction, but I guess two are better than one right?

Digression: Oh my goodness if you are an avid fan of boba and live in the LA area, please try the boba at Noodle Planet, follow link: http://www.noodleplanet.com You will fall in bobalicious love. Let me tell you how amazing it is, funny story actually. So my roommate would talk about this place constantly, stating how delectably delicious the boba was. I looked up the restaurant on Google and it had said that the nearest restaurant near us had closed down. My roommate panicked and called this place at 10:00 pm frantically asking if they were still open for business. Yes, they were open or else the lady wouldn’t have answered. And yes, my roommate insisted that we had to go immediately once we arrived back home. She was suffering from severe boba separation anxiety.  So moral of the story is, get some boba at Noodle Planet, because it’s just that maliciously mouth-watering. #alliterationproblems

Back to blog: I cannot express how wonderful it was to spend time with my family. It was filled with laughter, lovely memories, and lively locations. I love them so much.

I was recently hired as the Live Section Editor at L7 Women’s Magazine and can’t wait to publish my first editorial! My writers, blogger, and photographer are just lovely and I’m so blessed to be working for this magazine. My section revolves around health & fitness, food & drink, travel, social, as well as motherhood. There are 7 L’s to the magazine: Look, Live, Love, Lust, Lead, Listen, and Learn. Clever huh?

So next time we virtually meet again, I hope you’ve either spent time with friends and family, eaten some frozen yogurt, drank some boba, visited the L7 online magazine, or all of the above!

Love and laughter,

Danelle

Wow this has got to be the longest birthday celebration ever. Can I just stay 21 forever?

I hope everyone has had some delicious barbecue, been able to spend time with loved ones, or went skydiving. If yes to skydiving, you’ve got to be the coolest person I virtually know.

For this blog, I took some awesome pictures (well at least I think they’re awesome) and decided to post a blog with all the fun stuff I did this week!

So as you can see, I spent the 4th of July with one of my favorite Marvel superheroes, Spidey! Personally, as a movie audience member I thought the movie was overall aesthetically pleasing; the costume looked great on Mr. Garfield, the chemistry between Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and Peter Parker was perfect, and the first-person scenes of Spiderman’s web swinging were pretty awesome. However as a comic-book lover, it wasn’t what I was expecting, but then again, many novels and comic book adaptations never really are. I don’t want to give any spoilers, and I truly encourage you to watch the movie, but there will be a couple of jaw-droppers in there, possibly even a dire need to rip your hair out. Anyway, go watch the movie and fall in love with Andrew Garfield! How could Andrew and Emma not fall in love on a set like that?

Alright, next eventful event, haha eventful event, was mini-golfing! Yes, I know, what 21 year old decides to go to a mini-golf course/arcade for her reoccurring-birthday week? ME, of course! I’ve never acted like a grown-up and don’t plan on starting anytime soon, well scratch that. Just imagine a cartoon-loving, nonsense-giggling, video-game-playing girl in a professional business suit. So yes, back to mini-golfing! It was so fun, and brought back such memories. I don’t think I’ve gone since I was 13. It was like I time-traveled back to 2004, chili-cheese fries and all. And hey, I actually got a hole in one! My friend beat me buy 4 points in total; I felt like being nice that day, shh don’t tell him.

Yes, so mini-golfing, Spidey-time, and getting together with good company sums up my week and are mainly the reasons for my lack of posts. Well hey, instead of mini-blogs, you get a full-week one…with pictures! Words with pictures! How much better could it get?! Well, actually, I guess I could post videos next time. Man, I really need to post more videos on YouTube. Tomorrow, I will record something…maybe, possibly. Sorry my James Joyce voice keeps kicking in, man I kind of miss my English Literature classes, only 1 and half more months, oh no summer is almost over, senior year is right around the corner. OK, sorry i’ll stop!

Hope everyone had a safe and blessed holiday, and has an awesome rest of the week!

Love and laughter,

Danelle

Birthday Blessings

Yes, I am 21 and I love teddy bears.

21 already? Goodness gracious, where has the time gone? I can still remember playing Pokemon on Gameboy Color in the back of the car, constantly asking, “Are we there yet mom? Are we there? How much longer? Like an hour? Two hours?” Man, I loved that gameboy color. I had a translucent purple one that was always near my side. I had all these cool accessories and tons of games, ahh the nostalgic memories.

OK so 21 isn’t that old, I guess. People usually say that it’s a person’s prime, or they drop the, “Wow, I wish I was 21, you better enjoy it while you can!” And it’s like, “Uhm, thanks? I’m guessing it doesn’t get better after 21 or something?” Haha just kidding. But seriously, I really can’t believe it. I guess I should probably go out to a bar/club/thingymajig, but I’d be way too awkward for that, unless people want to see my cabbage patch dancing, which I really doubt they’d want to see. I haven’t been out like that in like….*ahem*….since…oh I don’t know, who knows how long. I guess it would be kind of fun?

Well, the truth is I celebrated with my family and friends who mean the world to me. Yeah I know, I know, snore if you’d like, but honestly it was perfect. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. And they even say it’s not over yet. Apparently a 21st birthday lasts for a whole week?

So the past weekend my lovely friends took me out to Laguna, a beautiful city by the way, with amazing ice cream…too bad I was too filled up with pizookie and pizza to eat anymore. Seriously, my friend had to pick me up and carry me one block, because I felt like was going into a food coma, a really great food coma. Mmm, the deep dish portabello mushroom pizza,  the melting vanilla ice cream on the chewy chocolate chip cookie, the delectable goodness…..must go back, must eat more. Sorry, stream of consciousness kicking in.

I was really grateful that my friends brought me there, they’re wonderful, truly wonderful.

And my family, goodness, I don’t know what I’d do without them. They gave me, and for the past 21 years, have given me the best gift of all: they’re complete and ultimate support. They’re always there for me, and have truly inspired me to become a better person each day, to love everyone I meet, and to bring some sort of smile to every person I encounter along the way. Without them, I just wouldn’t be Danelle, and for that I love them very much.

So you ask me how it feels to be 21? Well it’s simple. It’s 20 years old, 364 days, plus 1.

Love and laughter,

Danelle

Inspiring Night with Josh…

Groban! Yes, the “You Raise Me Up”, heartfelt, classical musician with a big and beautiful voice. It was the perfect way to start my birthday weekend.

So I usually wouldn’t be the type to buy a Josh Groban ticket, but my mom bought me a ticket to watch with my aunt, and to my surprise it was actually a great concert. Plus, it was a benefit concert toward LACHSA (Los Angeles County High School for the Arts) and helped contribute to the many musical funds that schools are losing each year. Music is so important and vital toward schools; without music I would not entirely be the person that I am today, again, sorry with the cliches, I can’t help it! I actually did my high school senior project on how music strongly and scientifically enhances a child’s mental and social abilities. I mean it’s amazing. There’s all this medical research on how it relieves stress, and medically proves to help people with illnesses. Did you know of such a thing as melodic intonation therapy? Yeah, neither did I, so read THIS to happily inform yourself!

On a different note, I thought that attending this concert and donating to the school was really awesome because not only did Mr. Groban give an outstanding performance, but he also included some students to perform with him on stage. (I just searched on YouTube for students performing at LACHSA, went on a 30 minute digression, and somehow started watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wyLIF1532U&feature=related totally irrelevant but so cute right?) OK anyway, these students were absolutely incredible. There were modern dancers, as well as a choir who sang with Josh for “You Raise Me Up.”

It was so inspiring to see high school students with a passion and yearning for the lovely gift of music. And it was more surprising to see Josh Groban genuinely contributing back to the school where he had received his training. He sang numerous songs and completely nailed each song with his voice. Every note was magnificently clear and so natural. Oh, and when he hit that falsetto, I started to melt every time. For some reason men’s voices and falsetto to me are like peanut butter and jelly: sweet, classic, and meant for each other, or maybe peanut butter and bananas, oh or better, peanut butter and chocolate…mmm peanut butter. Oh my goodness, lately, all I’ve been looking at is Pinterest, and have you seen all the peanut butter postings? I feel like I’m gaining a multitude of calories just by looking at them. They’re so undeniably delicious, I just want to start baking and cooking, and I hardly bake and cook, seriously ask my roommate.

Whoa, way off track there Danelle. OK so, all in all: Josh Groban = one of a kind voice, LACHSA students = the type of people who inspire me every day, and peanut butter = my absolute weakness, if I were a superhero that bit of information would be so helpful to my evil nemesis.

So please, what I’m trying to say is, help out your local school’s music department, get involved with music and the community, or better yet help introduce the beautiful gift of music to the younger people of this generation. Music will always have the ability to inspire, but it is up to you to fully embrace everything it has to offer.

Love and laughter,

Danelle

I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES! (sorry that was my subconscious typing)

Mix urban, mind-melting, feel-good vibes with fresh, but vintage style and voila! You get “Young the Giant.”

Hello my lovely readers, I know I’ve been posting little blogs with music videos, but today I give you a full-on blog about my most favorite topic: musical artists.

Yes, that’s right, no stories about the weird, freakish, and humiliating events in my life today, only sweet intriguing music.

Anyway, I came across Palladia, one of my go-to music channels on cable and saw this man, freakishly hitting his tambourine. I thought, “Hmm…okay it’s not everyday you see a lead singer frantically hitting a percussion instrument of some sort.” Well, maybe you do, I don’t know, it’s solely based on whatever you watch on your television screen. People actually watch too much TV, it’s quite disturbing. I mean it’s excellent if you’re a superstar TV executive at a multi-billion dollar production company, but other than that let’s try to keep our TV marathons healthfully balanced.  Fun factoid: according to the new survey conducted by the Nielson Co., an average person spends 9 years watching TV.  Yes, it’s true, see for yourself: http://www.statisticbrain.com/television-watching-statistics/ I mean, 9 YEARS?! You’ve got to be kidding me, you could spend that time learning an instrument, traveling the world, and jumpstarting your career all in that one time span. Alright, well you get the point, and I don’t want to harass you with Dr. Danelle anymore, so please go out and enjoy this beautiful planet.

Where was I again? Oh yes, Young the Giant, absolutely clean vocals, intriguing rhythmic melodies, and an overall refreshing feel about them. I took one look at the lead singer, and once he started to sing, I was completely amazed.

There was something different about them, something enchantingly different.

Bottom line: get off your couch, and find some new upcoming artists to watch.

Love and laughter,

Danelle

Here’s the song that won me over. Please listen!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji7B_54Cp_A

I NEED to duet with this man.

Raw. Real. Live. Classic.

Hope you don’t mind the car noises and extra street sounds. I mean, that’s the beauty performing in a live setting right?

Let’s just say that this song means so much to me and is an all-time favorite.

I hope you all enjoy and drift into the vintage style of the 60’s.

Love and laughter,

Danelle

My roommate Anya is an awesome guitarist, isn’t she?!
